1. Faith is the substance of those things

For which believers hope,

The evidence of things unseen,

The basis of our hope.

2. Electing grace, redeeming blood,

And God the Spirit’s call,

We know are ours by faith alone,

By trusting Christ for all.

3. Our feelings we must never trust.

Our works we know, at best,

Are full of sin! As sins they must

Be honestly confessed.

4. God promises eternal life

To all who trust His Son.

The substance and the evidence

Of life is faith alone.
