1.    O hear the dying Lamb of God,

From Calv’ry’s rugged tree;

Triumphant, shaking earth and hell,

His cry bids darkness flee. —

2.    “`Tis finished!” O, how great the word!

And can the news be true?

“Yes,” says my Savior, “by My blood,

I’ve finished all for you!”

3.    All law demands and justice claims,

He answered with this word:

And on His heart He bears the names

Of all the sons of God.

4.    Finished! My heart leaps at the sound

I on this truth rely, —

Christ Jesus lived and died for me,

And pleads my cause on high!

5.    “`Tis finished!” Go proclaim it, now,

To sinners far and wide.

O Holy Spirit make them hear

And trust the Crucified!
