No doctrine hatched in hell is more blasphemous or more brazenly denies the very godhood of our Savior than universal atonement, the teaching that Christ made atonement for sinners who yet suffer the wrath of God in eternity.

Christ Exalted — John Kent

(Tune: # 268— My Faith has Found a Resting Place — CM)

1.             Children of light, assist my song. Come, swell the sacred tone —

A sweeter note the blood-bought throng neÕer sang before the throne.

`Tis to the Lamb, forever dear, by God, made sin to be,

Whose sacred side received the spear, Whose hands were pierced for me.

2.             On love like this reflect, my soul. HereÕs heights and depths to view. —

`Twas for the foulest of the foul, for sins of blackest hue.

He passed the rebel angels by, creatures of nobler powÕrs,

While rebel worms are raised on high, — This sinful flesh of ours!

3.             The sins of all the ransomed race, thatÕs found throughout the world,

By this one act of sovÕreign grace, were in oblivion hurled.

When Thine elect on Zion meet, weÕll lift Thy name on high,

And every act of grace repeat, and shout with holy joy!

ÒChrist is AllÓ

Christ is the center of everything, the object of everything, and the end of everything. If you do not know him, you know nothing of creation, nothing of providence, nothing of grace, nothing of salvation, nothing of yourself, and nothing of this Book. Do you understand this? — ÒChrist is all!Ó — Without Christ we are nothing, we have nothing, we can do nothing (1 Corinthians 1:30-31).

Christian or Antichrist?

1 John 2:18-22; 4:1-3; 5:1; 2 John 1:7

What does it mean to deny Òthat Jesus is the ChristÓ? — To deny that Jesus is the Christ is to deny that Jesus of Nazareth actually accomplished all that the Old Testament Scriptures assert that the Christ of God would accomplish.

What is it to confess Òthat Jesus Christ is come in the fleshÓ? — It is to acknowledge and confess that everything written in the Old Testament regarding the person and work of the Messiah, the Christ, meet in and were fulfilled by Jesus of Nazareth. It is to confess that Jesus of Nazareth actually accomplished all that God asserted in the Old Testament Scriptures that the Christ, the womanÕs Seed, would accomplish.

What is it to believe Òthat Jesus is the ChristÓ? — To believe that Jesus is the Christ is to trust the crucified man, Jesus of Nazareth, as your Lord (Luke 14:25-33) and Savior (1 Corinthians 1:30). It is the commitment of your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, the Lord of Glory, the Prince and King of Heaven and Earth!

Is your religion Christian or antichrist? Are you Christian or antichrist? Read Daniel 9:24 and you will see.

Transgression Finished — Sins Ended

Daniel 9:24

Gabriel told Daniel that when the Christ appeared, when the Messiah was cut off, crucified and slain at Jerusalem, in the midst of the 70th week he would, by the sacrifice of himself Òfinish the transgression.Ó That is precisely what our blessed Savior did, when our transgressions were laid on him and borne by him, and he carried them all away in the stream of his precious blood, when he made satisfaction for us. They shall never be seen or brought up again!

Gabriel then assured Daniel that the Lord Jesus would come here in our flesh to Òmake an end of sins.Ó Yes, our blessed Savior abolished the sins of his people forever when he paid to the full the price of our ransom, by the sacrifice of himself! — He made an end of sinÕs condemnation and curse, an end of sinÕs judgment and consequence, and an end of sinÕs guilt and death. Our blessed Savior made an end of sins, all the sins of his elect, — past, present, and future! He made an end of our sins very existence (1 John 3:5). He Òput away sin!Ó

No charge can be brought against us. No, the curse of the law canÕt reach us. No sentence of the law can be executed upon us. No punishment can be inflicted on us. We are entirely and completely saved from all our sins, and all the evil consequences of them forever! Christ put away our sins by the sacrifice of himself. — ÒWhen he had by himself purged our sins, (he) sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high!Ó He who was made sin for us finished our transgressions and made an end of our sins (Psalm 32:1; Romans 4:8; Numbers 23:21, 23). He who actually finished the transgression and made an end of sins, and he alone, is the Christ of God!

ÒAnd the Word of God increased.Ó

Acts 6:1-7

Pastor Clay Curtis

The twelve apostles said to the church, ÒIt is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.Ó They directed the church to pick out seven men to appoint over this business.

Those seven disciples had full time jobs with families to care for. Those men awoke early, commuted, worked a full day, walked home, took care of their families, went to bed late, got up early, and did it all over again the next day. Even more, this work given to a mere seven men was for a congregation of at least five thousand members with untold numbers of widows which required ministering to, and that, on a daily basis.

On the other hand, to the carnal eye, the apostles did not have nearly the workload as the disciples. The apostleÕs work required them to go most of the week unseen in their study and in prayer, seen by the church only when they preached the gospel publicly. The carnal heart would reason the apostles were only excusing themselves. Carnal understanding would say that the disciples should be the last called to this work because they already had full schedules while the apostles only preached (in the early church) one day a week. But no carnal eye can see the burden of speaking for God to eternity bound sinners which weighed heavily on the apostles continually day and night. Oh, be thankful God does not leave his work to carnal hearts!

God the Holy Spirit effectually gave the apostles the word from Christ our Head, that even though the need required daily attention, it was not reason enough that his ambassadors should leave his Word and serve tables. Christ provided faithful men, so Christ effectually made the apostles to say, ÒBrethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the Word Then Christ moved the hearts of his people to receive their word as ChristÕs own, ÒAnd the saying pleased the whole multitude.Ó

The outcome never would have come to pass if carnal reason had ruled. But by God working his will and good pleasure in each one, each did what God called him to do, and God blessed it. ÒAnd the Word of God increasedÉand the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly,Ó and out of the synagogues of Satan Òa great company of the priests were obedient to the faith

ÒPerfectÓ

Pastor Donnie Bell

Perfect, complete, without blemish, holy, blameless, spotless: these are just a few of the words the scriptures uses to describe Gods saints. We do not feel that we are any of these things in ourselves, but feelings do not change what God says about us. Do we believe what we see in ourselves or what God says about us? God describes us with these glorious words because of what our Lord Jesus Christ accomplished for us by his holy sinless life and his sacrificial death for us on the cross. God Word describes us as what we are in Christ. — ÒThanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift!Ó
