WHY DID THE SON OF GOD COME INTO THIS WORLD?

It is true, "God was manifest in the flesh." The Son of God really did assume human flesh and enter into this world through the womb of the virgin Mary two thousand years ago. Rejoice in that fact! However, as you remember the birth, infancy, and childhood of Jesus, do not fail to also remember that EVEN IN HIS MANHOOD, JESUS CHRIST WAS AND IS GOD. As the God-man Mediator, he came into this world to do something. He came on an errand of mercy with a divine commission.

THE SON OF GOD CAME INTO THIS WORLD TO SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS, not to save all people, but to save "his people" (Matt. 1:20). There are some people in this world who are peculiarly his people by divine election. He came here to die as their Substitute, that by his death God might be just and their Justifier (Rom. 3:24-26), the Justifier of all who trust him.

THAT WHICH CHRIST CAME TO DO SHALL BE DONE. He shall save all his people from their sins. It is written, "He shall not fail" (Isa. 42:4). All for whom the Son of God lived and died must be saved. Otherwise, he lived and died in vain! If you trust the Lord Jesus Christ, if you trust his righteous obedience to God as your only righteousness and his blood as your only atonement for sin, you shall be saved forever. Your faith is the proof that he has saved you. By faith in Christ sinners in this world make their calling, redemption, and election sure.
