Why Are Intelligent People Incapable Of
Understanding The Word Of God?
To many it
is astonishing to see intelligent and often sincere men and women in utter
confusion about spiritual things and totally incapable of understanding the
teachings of Holy Scripture. That which to us is as simple as
2+2=4 and as clear as the noonday sun, they simply cannot see, no matter how
clearly it is presented to them. They may be sincere, religious people
and may be diligent students of religious doctrine, but they cannot understand
the ABC's of the gospel. Why?
First, SPIRITUAL THINGS MUST BE
SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED. The natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit
of God. They are foolishness to him. Until God the Holy Spirit, by the new
birth, gives a person the mind of Christ, he cannot understand the things of
