WHY MUST BELIEVERS BE BAPTIZED?

The ordinance of baptism was established by our Lord through the ministry of John the Baptist as a public confession of faith in Christ and a public identification with him and his people. Symbolically, our immersion in water is a picture of our death, burial, and resurrection with Christ. Every believer (and only believers) must be baptized, simply because our Lord commanded it. Our obedience is an acknowledgement of Christ's Lordship.
