"WHY DON'T YOU HAVE AN
ALTAR IN YOUR CHURCH?"
In the Old Testament
tabernacle and temple the altar was used symbolically as the place where God
met with man. It was a type of the Lord Jesus Christ, that One
who was to come in whom God and his people would be perfectly reconciled. In
other words, CHRIST IS OUR ALTAR. "We have an Altar, whereof they
have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle" (Heb.13:10). Why should
we foolishly go back to the shadow when we have the SUBSTANCE? To
pretend to worship God at a physical altar in a church building, be it Baptist
or Roman Catholic, is idolatry. Our Altar is not in the front of the church
building. HE IS IN HEAVEN. You do not come to this ALTAR by
walking to the front of the church. It is not a physical act but a spiritual
act. YOU MUST COME TO CHRIST, THE TRUE ALTAR THE PLACE WHERE GOD MEETS
SINNERS IN MERCY, BY FAITH. "True worshippers shall worship the Father
in spirit...God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in
spirit and in truth."
(John 4:23, 24).
