WHY DO YOU COME TO CHURCH?
That may seem a strange
question. But people come to church for many reasons. It is something they have
always done. It is their Sunday custom. They just do not feel right unless they
come to church. Some people come to church out of a sense of obligation. Others
come to pacify their religious consciences.
But there are some who come to
the house of worship so that they might hear a word from the Lord and be
enabled to worship him. Being redeemed by the blood of Christ and renewed by
the grace of the Holy Spirit, they count it their greatest joy to hear God
speak through his servant. They are hungry for the Word. They need again to
hear the refreshing message of redeeming love, covenant faithfulness, and
sustaining grace. Is this the reason that motivated you in coming here today? I
hope so!
If you have some seeking a message from the Lord,
surely you took a moment to pray for yourself and for God's messenger. If you
have come desiring to worship the Lord, surely you will be as anxious to
worship him tonight as you are now. If you have come feeling your need of
Christ, surely you will need him as much Wednesday night as you do this
morning. Why do you come to church?
