The believer's joy is not
oblivious to the concerns and burdens which all godly men have in life. It is
an emotion; but it is much more than an emotion. True spiritual joy is the
fruit of genuine faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. To rejoice in the Lord is to TRUST
his providence, GIVE THANKS for his goodness, SUBMIT to this
will, BOW to his wisdom, and SEEK his glory in all things and
above all things. TRUE SPIRITUAL JOY IS THAT BLESSED CONTENTMENT OF THE
HEART WHICH ARISES FROM FAITH IN CHRIST.
