USING OUR OPPORTUNITY
Paul admonished us to be "Redeeming the time,
because the days are evil" (Eph. 5:16).
Someone suggested that his admonition could be translated, "Buying the
opportunity.'' Think about that. The Lord has given us a tremendous opportunity
to minister to the souls of men in these evil days. We have, in this community,
a place where the gospel is preached. We ought to do everything in our power to
see to it that those who live around us hear the message of redeeming love and
saving grace. We have no other purpose for our existence. Perhaps you ask
yourself, '"What can I do?" You can distribute tracts, tapes, and
bulletins at work, at school, and in your neighborhood. You can invite your
relatives and friends to come with you to the house of God to hear the gospel.
You can tell others what the Lord has done for your own soul. And you can pray
for our ministry as a church.
This is the day the Lord has given us. Soon it will
be over. Let us resolve, therefore, to buy up every opportunity the Lord gives
us, and to use our opportunity for the glory of Christ and the furtherance of
the gospel.
