Trust — GodÕs and Ours

The Scriptures speak of a threefold trust by which we are saved. First, we are told that God the Father trusted Christ as our Surety. Before the worlds were made, our blessed Savior stepped forth and volunteered to assume all responsibility for the salvation of His chosen; and the Triune Jehovah trusted Him with all the elect, all the glory of God, and all things (Ephesians 1:12; John 6:37-40; 17:6, 9, 11-12).

While He walked on this earth, fulfilling all righteousness as our Representative, our Lord Jesus Christ trusted God perfectly as a man. Yes, ÒHe trusted in GodÓ as our Mediator (Hebrews 2:13; Isaiah 8:18). We are told repeatedly in the Book of God that we are saved Òby the faith of ChristÓ (Romans 3:22; Galatians 2:16, 20; 3:22; Ephesians 3:12; Philippians 3:9).

Then, when born again by the omnipotent mercy and grace of God the Holy Spirit, every chosen, redeemed sinner trusts Christ as His Redeemer and Savior, looking to Christ alone for all His wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption (Ephesians 1:13-14; Psalm 18:2; Isaiah 12:1-6).
