THERE IS NO COMFORT IN THE WORKS OF MEN

Any man who attempts to find comfort for his own soul, or comfort regarding the souls of others, in the matter of acceptance with God, upon the basis of human works is a fool. And any preacher who attempts to give comfort to men upon the basis of any works performed by them is a false prophet, a deceiver of men. The only works acceptable to a holy God are the perfect works of righteousness performed by the God-man, Jesus Christ. And the only man whom God will accept is that man to whom the righteousness of God in Christ is imputed by faith. If you are wise, you will refuse to rest in your own works and rest your soul upon the works of Christ alone.
