THE THREE GREATEST CONCERNS OF MY HEART

1. THE GOSPEL OF GOD

I want to know and preach the gospel of God; that gospel which God devised and planned in eternity; that gospel which God promised and portrayed in the Old Testament scriptures; and that gospel which God revealed in his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the gospel of God's redeeming love, saving power, and eternal glory in Christ, the Substitute. I want to preach the gospel with simplicity, sincerity, boldness, and power to my generation.

2. THE GLORY OF GOD

It is my daily, and I hope sincere, prayer that the Lord our God will use me for his own glory. I want to glorify him in my preaching, in my life, in my speech, in my actions, in my thoughts, in my attitudes, and in my home. I want, by the grace of God, to subject myself, my family, and all the affairs of my life to the glory of God, saying in all things, "The Lord be magnified!"

3. THE FAMILY OF GOD

I am a husband, and I love my wife; but my primary concern is not for her. I am a father, and I love my daughter; but my primary concern is not for her. The primary concern of my heart is for the church and kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, the family of God. After all, my earthly family is but a temporal relationship. God's elect are my eternal, abiding family. I must give my primary care, attention, and labor to that which is eternal.

Everything must be used, and everything must be sacrificed to the gospel, the glory, and the family of God.
