THE INVITATION

Sometimes people wonder why we do not give an invitation at the close of our services. We believe that, the preaching of the gospel is God's invitation to sinners. It is the message of redeeming grace that you must accept, not the preacher's emotional plea.

Salvation is no more gained by walking an aisle to the front of a Baptist Church than it is by going to an altar in a Catholic Church. Both of these notions are idolatrous and deceptive. Salvation is received by faith alone. Christ is the only altar of mercy, and you must go to him by faith. Walking to the front of a church and making a decision will not save you. Christ alone saves sinners. And he does it by faith.

But if the Lord bas been pleased to grant you faith and salvation in Christ, and you would like to confess him publicly in the waters of baptism, you are welcome to do so. Let us rejoice with you in the grace of God.
