THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS FELLOWSHIP TO ME

Personally, I have never been involved in a congregation where there is such a bond of love and fellowship in the gospel as we enjoy here. God has greatly blessed us! So far as I know, there are no factions, divisions, or controversies among us. We have one desire: We want to worship the Lord. We have one work: We want to worship the Lord. We have one work: We want to preach the Gospel. We have one purpose: We want the glory of God. Our fellowship, I believe, is built around the gospel. Religious tradition, family ties, and social similarities have nothing to do with it. We are a family of redeemed sinners, whose hearts are united to one another in the love of Christ. This fellowship ought to be guarded by prayer and strengthened by brotherly love. I ask you to guard it and cherish it for the glory of Christ, for your own sake, and for my sake as well.

This fellowship is important to me as A BELIEVER. Here is a place where I can here the Word of God preached in the power of the Holy Spirit and in much assurance. I must feed my soul with the truth. And here the truth is preached! This fellowship is important to me as ONE WHO LOVES CHRIST. Christ is precious to me. And all that is of Christ is precious to me: His Church – His Ordinances – His People. I must be identified with his people. It is my heart’s joy to fellowship with believers around the Person and work of Christ. I have no interest in leaving such a fellowship. I cannot be content around those who do not know and rejoice in Christ. This fellowship is important to me, because I AM A FRAIL MAN. I am subject to fall, subject to the assaults of the world, the flesh, and the devil. I fear indifference, sin, and coldness of heart. I need to be exhorted, encouraged, comforted, and rebuked. I need the fellowship and support of men and women like myself. I don’t need to be entertained. I don’t need to be pacified. I don’t need to be analyzed. This fellowship is important to me, because I AM A WITNESS. Our Lord said, “Ye shall be my witness.” I am concerned for the salvation of my family, my friends, and people around the world. Therefore I desire to bring my family and friends to hear the Gospel. I know that they will hear it here. It is for this reason that I want to help send preachers, evangelists, and missionaries wherever possible to preach Christ.
