THE BELIEVER'S RULE AND
MOTIVE
God's children in this world
are a source of confusion and irritation to natural men, both religious
profane. "The world knoweth us not, because it knew him not" (I John
3:1). Unlike the worldling, believer's are not ruled and motivated by selfish
desires and interests. Believers follow Christ. They walk in his steps; and
they are ruled and motivated by the same things that ruled and motivated him in
his earthly ministry. The believer's attitudes, his conduct, and his decisions
are dictated by love and faith. Love causes him to live in kindness,
generosity, and patience with men. And faith causes him to live in peace and
contentment before God, without fear. In all things, he seeks the glory of God
the good of his brethren.
