At last we are here! The building God has given us
is both comfortable and beautiful. We are most grateful for this house of
worship. But there are some things which remain of much greater importance to
us all. We all want much more than an impressive structure to meet in.
1. We want the Presence of God - with Moses, we might well pray,
"If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence." Though our
auditorium may be filled, it would be an empty place, if we did not enjoy the
presence of our God.
2. We want a Message from God - Each time we come into this
house, let us come seeking a message from the Lord to satisfy the needs of our
hearts.
3. We want to see the Glory of God - Many religious edifices,
much more impressive than ours, and more crowded, are empty; because the glory
of God is departed. Oh, brethren, let us earnestly pray that the glory of God
will ever be revealed in our midst. We want to see the glory of God displayed
in the salvation of sinners, the edification of his people, and the fellowship
of brotherly love.
To the
one God of heaven and earth, in the trinity of His sacred persons, be all honor
and glory. To the glorious Father, the covenant God; to the gracious Son, the
Redeemer of His people; to the Holy Spirit, the author of sanctification; be everlasting praise for that gospel of the free grace of
God proclaimed in this place.
