Reverent Worship

In most places, people treat the worship of God with utter contempt. Here, I insist that the worship of God be shown the utmost reverence. It is for that reason that I insist on infants being kept in the nursery and do not allow people to go in and out to the restrooms, or to get a drink of water, while someone is reading the Scriptures, leading us in prayer, singing a special, or preaching the gospel. No school teacher would allow mothers to bring a baby to sit in her class and disturb the children while she tries to teach. No surgeon would allow avoidable distractions while he performs open heart surgery. What we do here is indescribably more important than education or surgery. Here we deal with the weighty matters of eternity, the souls of men, the glory of God, and the Word of God. Let us give these things the reverence they demand. I will not attempt to tell other pastors and churches what they should or should not do in these matters. I am not responsible for them. I am responsible for what goes on here; and here we will reverence the Word and worship of our great God.
