We do not believe in
tithing. We do not preach tithing. And we do not practice tithing. Tithing was
required under the law as a tribute to God, acknowledging his supremacy as God,
that all things come from him and all things belong to him. MEN UNDER THE
LAW MUST BE FORCED TO MAKE SUCH AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. But we are not under
the law. We are under grace. Being born of God, redeemed, and justified by his
grace, we rejoice to acknowledge the supremacy of our God and Savior. We give
thanks for his bountiful provision to us. And we joyfully give ourselves and
all that we have to him. When it comes time to make an offering to God, we give
him the best that we have, generously and joyfully. We dare not stoop to such a
little, slavish thing as tithing!
