“My House Shall Be Called The House Of Prayer”

When the Lord Jesus saw what the religious people of his day were doing in the temple at Jerusalem, he was enraged. He made a whip and drove them out, saying, “My house shall be called the house of prayer.” This is recorded by all four Gospel writers (Matt. 21:12-13; Mk. 11:15; Lk. 19:45; John 2:15). They had turned the house of God into a place of merchandise and entertainment. “Worship services” in the temple were spectacles of religious tomfoolery, nothing else.

The Son of God was enraged by it then, and he is enraged by it today. There is absolutely no place in the house of God for anything except the worship of God. Religious plays, religious cantatas, religious entertainment of any kind is an abomination to God and a mockery of men’s souls. Most of what is done in churches, in the name of God, in the name of worshiping and serving Christ, is nothing but religious garbage. The sooner it is driven out and discarded, the better.

In this place, we will have nothing to do with such blasphemy. We meet three times every week to worship God our Savior, to sing his praise, to call upon his name, to seek his will, to learn his Word, and to preach his gospel. Any who are interested in these things, any who are interested in the glory of God are welcome and encouraged to join us. Any who prefer to disregard these things, who prefer to entertain themselves and their children with the religious baubles of hell will have no trouble finding a synagogue of Satan to their liking.
