IF YOU WANT TO ....
Over the years I have learned a
few things about people. Some of the things I have learned have been good and
encouraging; others have been bad and disappointing. For better or for worse,
here is one thing I have learned ‑ A MAN USUALLY DOES WHAT HE WANTS TO
DO. If you really want to do something, you probably will, if it is within
your power. If you want to buy a new car, take a vacation, build a new house,
send your children to college, or attend a ball game, you will make whatever
sacrifices and arrangements are necessary to do it. No matter what it is, great
or small, if it is important to you, you want to do it, and you have the power
to do it, you will.
The same thing is true in spiritual matters. If you
want to hear the gospel preached, you will arrange to be in the house of
worship. If you want to read your Bible, you will read it. If you want to pray,
you will pray. If you want to see the gospel preached around the world, you
will do anything and give anything to get the job done. Long ago, I quit asking
people why they missed church on Sunday, or why they do not attend service on
Wednesday. I presume that if you are not present for services, it is because
you did not want to come. Something was more important!
