Here Are Some Bible Doctrines Which Lost Religious People Hate To Hear

Those doctrines most essential to the gospel are the very doctrines which most infuriate lost religious people. When the Lord Jesus declared HIS OWN DIVINITY, when he told the Jews that he is indeed God, they took up stones to kill him (John 5:18). When he preached the doctrine of GOD'S SOVEREIGN, ELECTING GRACE in the syn agogue, those who heard him tried to kill him (Luke 4:16-28). To this day no doctrine is more offensive to the pride of man than election. Though God's election is the very beginning of salvation (Eph. 1:3-4), men despise it because it makes salvation the work of God alone. When our Savior preached the nature and necessity of THE NEW BIRTH Nicodemus was totally confused (John 3:3-9). He thought the new birth was something a man could do for himself! In the tenth chapter of John, the Son of God preached SALVATION BY GRACE ALONE, total depravity, sovereign election, particular, effectual redemption, irresistible grace, and the perseverance of all true believers. When he finished his sermon the freewillers, workmongers, and church going religious crowd tried to kill him (v. 31).

Things haven't changed much! Because lost religious people despise the gospel of God's free and sovereign grace in Christ, preachers everywhere in every denomination either deny it or water it down. But you may be sure of this - EVERY SERVANT OF CHRIST PREACHES WHAT CHRIST PREACHED, REGARDLESS OF THE CONSEQUENCES!
