FOUR TENDER ADMONITIONS TO THE PEOPLE OF GOD

Someone has described Ephesians 4:30-5:2 as the most tender, loving, and sweet passage to be found upon the pages of Holy Scripture. I am inclined to agree. In these verses of Scripture, Paul gives us four tender admonitions which ought to govern our lives. It would be well for us to commit these verses to memory, and pray that God will enable us to put them into practice.

4:30 - "Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." Blessed Spirit of God, let me never grieve thee by my attitude or my actions. Let me rather walk by thy direction.

4:32 - "Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." Heavenly Father, enable me to be to my brethren as you are to me, kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving.

5:1 - "Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children.'' Enable me, my God, to obey you as eagerly as a loving child would obey his father, without question or delay.

5:2 - "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor." Dear Savior, cause me to follow your example of love, that my life may be to God a constantly sweet-smelling sacrifice of love.
