Divine
election is the blessed truth that God has chosen from all eternity to make us
the objects of his love and grace. It is God saying, regarding such unworthy
creatures as we are, “I will be their God; and they shall be my people.” It is
God determining to redeem, regenerate, preserve, and glorify us, for his own
dear name’s sake! Proud rebels may despise such free and sovereign grace.
Indeed, many do. But we rejoice in it, rest in it, and give God the gory for
it!
