ALMOST PERSUADED

Many of you have come to hear the gospel of Christ preached with great regularity for a long time. You see something of value in the gospel. You are like Agrippa, almost persuaded to believe the gospel and confess Christ. Yet, you remain in unbelief. Why? How shall I reason with you?

God is willing to save sinners for Christ's sake. He sent his own Son into the world to die in the place of sinners, so that all who believe might live. The Lord of heaven has sent his servants to declare the gospel unto you. The Spirit of God has even spoken to some of you, I am sure of it, entreating you to come to Christ. And you know that if you die without Christ, without faith in him, you will be eternally damned.

Why then will you die? Why do you not repent and sue for mercy? You may offer many excuses. But, in reality, your unbelief is without excuse. Nothing but your sinful pride keeps you from trusting Christ alone as Savior and Lord. You know that he is able and willing to save. But you will not bow to him. It is of no use to say, "I am almost persuaded." Either you will turn to Jesus Christ in faith, or you will burn under the just sentence of God's law eternally in hell. Which will it be? You must decide.
