A NEW YEAR'S PROMISE

"He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5

Many have begun the new year with apprehension and fear. The threats of war, economic depression, and social chaos are very real. And these things cause many great alarm. But even if the worst of these things were to come upon our nation, the church of God has no reason to fear. The Lord is with us.

Looking back over the past, we see that all of our fears have been foolish. Look at all that you have been through individually. Did the Lord ever forsake you? Recall all that we have been through collectively, as the church of Christ. Did our God ever once fail us? Were we ever forsaken? No, not one time has his promise failed.

Therefore, we will look the future square in the eye and, "We may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear." We will not fear any providence, for it is the work of God. We will not fear any man, for they are the instruments of God. We will not fear any demon of hell, for they are the creatures of God. Brethren, God is with us. And he is faithful to his Word. He will never leave us, nor forsake us.
