"A Body Hast Thou Prepared Me"

Hebrews 10:5

From all eternity it has been the purpose and determination of God the Father to glorify his dear Son and give him all pre-eminence. It has ever been the determinate counsel and immutable purpose of the great, glorious, self-existent, triune God that the second Person of the blessed Trinity take into union with himself the flesh and blood of his elect, so that he might show forth in that nature the riches of his free grace, the height and depth of his everlasting love, and the fulness of his divine glory. All creation, all providence, all the events and circumstances of time and space were arranged by God in sovereign predestination for the execution of that great plan. Therefore, our dear Savior said, as he was coming into the world, as he was coming into the virgin's womb, at the moment of his immaculate conception, "a body hast thou prepared me!" "When the fulness of time was come," according to the plan and purpose of God, "God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons" (Gal. 4:4-5).

A BODY WAS PREPARED FOR THE SON OF GOD IN OLD ETERNITY IN THE COVENANT OF GRACE  (Psa. 139:13-16). Our Lord was not a Man before he came into the world. But his human body was prepared by God in eternal predestination. Indeed, when God made Adam from the dust of the ground, he fashioned Adam's body in the image and likeness of that body which he had prepared for his Son, who is the image of the invisible God (Gen. 1:26; heb. 1:3).

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT PREPARED A BODY FOR THE SON OF GOD IN THE WOMB OF THE VIRGIN MARY AT THE TIME OF THE INCARNATION  (Matt. 1:20-23). Our Lord's human body and soul were prepared by miraculous conception, without the aid of a man, so that he might have no sin. His body and soul came forth from the virgin's womb in perfect holiness, so that he might bring in everlasting righteousness for us (Heb. 10:5-14).
