"ADORN THE DOCTRINE OF GOD OUR SAVIOR."  Titus 2:10

We delight in the fact that in Christ Jesus we are free from the law. No longer do we fear the curse of the law. We do not look to the law any longer as a motive to obey God, or as rule of life. In the fullest possible sense, the believer is free from the law. But it causes me grave concern to see some professed believers turning the grace of God into lasciviousness. Brethren, liberty is not licentiousness. Freedom from the law is not lawlessness.

As the children of God, it is both our privilege responsibility to "adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things The doctrine we are to adorn is the doctrine of the gospel. It is the doctrine of substitutionary redemption by the Person and work of God our Savior.

Paul plainly told these slaves how they were to adorn the gospel. And, surely, some plain and practical instruction in this matter would be helpful to us. How can you and I adorn, or set forth the excellency and beauty of the gospel? We adorn the gospel by believing it, professing it, and adhering to it. But, our text requires something move. It requires a definite manner of life. We adorn the gospel by making Christ the pattern and example of our life and conduct. We adorn the gospel when we seek the glory of God our Savior in preference to everything else. The honor of God and the will of God, these are our great concerns. We adorn the gospel by a steady, firm confidence and reliance upon Christ in all things. If we would adorn the gospel, we must display strict honesty and integrity in our dealings with men. We adorn the gospel by walking in love toward all men. The gospel is adorned by a believer's spirit of unselfishness, forgiveness, and patience.

Beloved, let us "adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things." The grace of God that brings salvation teaches us to do so. The expectancy of our Savior's glorious advent inspires us to adorn the gospel. Christ our Lord shed his blood that he might adorn us with his salvation. Let us then adorn the gospel of his salvation while we live.
