"God Sent Forth His Son"

"When the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons." Galatians 4:4-5

When the Lord Jesus Christ was born at Bethlehem, God's revelation was climaxed. "The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth." Our Lord came with a specific work to do. He came to do the will of his Father. And that will was the salvation of his people. Jesus Christ came as a man under law to God for the purpose of redeeming us and securing our eternal inheritance.

God sent his Son into the world at the right time; The date of his birth had been fixed in the eternal purpose of God. Our Redeemer did not come before his time, nor behind his time. He was punctual to the very hour. This was the fulness of time. At this time all the prophecies and types of the Old Testament were to be fulfilled. The time of man' s necessity had come. The time of our redemption had arrived.

God sent forth his Son as a man under the law. The eternal Son of God took our nature into union with himself. He became subject, in every detail to the law of God; And he fulfilled the strictest requirements of that law as a man. Only in this way would it be possible for him to save his people.

God sent forth his Son to accomplish our complete salvation. Having fulfilled every righteous requirement of the law, our Lord Jesus Christ took our place under the curse and condemnation of the law. Shedding his own precious, blood, our Immanuel paid the fullest possible price of our redemption. The infinite God himself satisfied the infinite claims of justice for us.

Complete atonement Thou hast made;

And to the utmost farthing paid,

Whate'er Thy people owed!

And now, upon the merits of Christ's finished work, we are made the Sons of God---FREE FROM THE LAW!
