1co 09v16 Woe Is Unto Me If I Preach Not The Gospel

"WOE IS UNTO ME, IF I PREACH NOT THE GOSPEL!"

I Corinthians 9:16

When I stand before a congregation of men and women, whose immortal souls must live forever, either in the eternal bliss and glory of God's presence in heaven, or in the eternal misery and woe of God's wrath in hell, "necessity is laid upon me", I must preach the gospel of the grace of God in Christ. All other subjects must bow to the glorious, soul-saving theme - "Jesus Christ, and him crucified." Whether we meet on Sunday morning, Sunday night, or some night during the week, my message is the same. It does not vary. When I am preaching for the edification of God's saints and when I am preaching for the conversion of sinners, when I am anxious to reprove sin and teach men how to live for God in this world and when I am anxious to strengthen, comfort, encourage, and instruct the people of God, my message is the same. "I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." As God gives me grace, I shall not be turned aside from this glorious subject. Christ crucified is all that your soul needs. Christ crucified is the only hope for sinners. Christ crucified is the revelation of God's glory. Christ crucified shall be the theme of this pulpit.
