"THE TIME IS SHORT"

I Corinthians 7:29

Usually when people are going to a banquet, they eat very sparingly during the day, so that they will have a greater appetite for the delicacies of the banquet. You and I who are the children of God are going to a banquet above, the marriage supper of the Lamb. Therefore, we must not dull our appetites with the things of this world. It is right for a believer to use the things of this world, and to rejoice in them. No one has such a right as God's children have to rejoice and be happy. Our Father has given us all things in Christ. There is nothing wrong with bodily pleasure, the comforts of home and friends, and even recreation and entertainment. God has given us all things richly to enjoy. But still, "THE TIME IS SHORT". Therefore, we must rejoice as though we rejoiced not, and use this world without abusing it. WE MUST NOT BECOME ATTACHED TO THIS WORLD. Let us not be taken up with dress, and show, and social standing. This world is perishing. If I am taken up with any earthly comfort or delight so much that it keeps me from the worship and service of Christ, then I am abusing this world. Let us enjoy the blessings of God in this world. But we must not live for this world - "THE TIME IS SHORT!"
