“Everyone Of Us Shall Give Account”
Romans 11:10-12
Imaginary theologians like to divide the Word of God into sections and make as much of it as possible non-applicable to themselves or anyone else. They also like to divide judgment into phases, or do away with it altogether, making salvation either a matter of works (at least in part) or the universal lot of all men, making both sin and the character of God matters of irrelevance.
Do not be fooled by such deceits. The Book of God, in its entirety, is addressed specifically to you and me. We will be judged according to the light of divine revelation given to us; and every one of us shall receive from God almighty exactly what we deserve in accordance with his strict justice. A line in one of the many heretical hymns men sing says, “There is a kindness in God’s justice.” Where is such justice found in the Bible? Justice knows nothing of kindness. Justice cannot bend. Justice cannot be merciful. Justice cannot extend grace. God’s kindness, mercy, and grace are extended to sinners on the basis of justice satisfied, not on the basis of justice compromised.
The Books of Judgment
When we stand before God in judgment, as we all soon shall, we must each give account to God for our works. Indeed, we shall be called to give account for “every idle word.” In that great day, when we give account of ourselves to God, before the bar of his unbending justice, we shall be judged according to the ledger books of heaven’s holy court. As it is written, all shall be judged out of those things which are written in the books, according to their own works (Rev. 20:11-15).
The wicked shall be judged according to the record books of heaven, according to his own works, and shall be forever damned according to the record of his works.
The righteous, too, shall be judged according to the record of his own works, and shall be rewarded according to the record of his own works.
Multitudes, being ignorant of the gospel of the grace of God, imagine that that means there will be degrees of reward for the saved in heaven, because some do better works than others. Nothing could be further from the truth. Read the Book of God and find out what the record books of heaven say about the works of God’s elect (Num. 23:21; Jer. 50:20; Rom. 4:8; 5:19; 6:23; 2 Cor. 5:21).
