rom 06v14 Sin Shall Not Have Dominion Over You
"SIN SHALL
NOT HAVE DOMINION OVER YOU"
Romans
All of God's people in this world know the bitter
reality of sin's presence. No believer ever entertains the proud heresy of
"sinless perfection". All who know themselves, know God, and know the
Lord Jesus Christ know and acknowledge their utter sinfulness (I John 1: 7-10).
So long as we live in this flesh, we will have to struggle with sin. We are
sin; and we sin continuously. We sin in thought, in word, and in deed. Sin is
mixed with all we do. Sin mars our best works, so that even our righteousnesses
are filthy rags (Isa. 64:6). We will never be rid of sin until we are rid of
this body of sin: our flesh, our old nature. But sin is not the ruling force,
motivating principle, and dominant influence of the believer's heart and life.
Christ is. When Christ comes into a man's heart with saving grace, he comes as
reigning Lord. He breaks the reigning power of sin and causes his grace to rule
in us. The believer's heart is willingly bent, not to the rule of sin, but to
the rule of Christ.
