FORGIVE ONE ANOTHER

Matthew 6:14-15

Occasionally I meet with people, who harbor ill feelings, grudges, anger, and malice in their hearts toward others, who yet profess to be believers. Such a profession is a sham and mockery. If I know the love of Christ, that love will make me forgiving toward others. "Love suffereth long and is kind… Beareth all things, endureth all things." If I have experienced the grace of God in my heart, it will make me gracious. If I have received the forgiveness of sins, I will forgive any offense committed against me.

Language cannot be clearer than this - "If ye forgive men their trespasses your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." It matters not how outwardly moral and self-righteous a man is; it matters not what he professes; and it matters not what he may have experienced in religion, AN UNFORGIVING MAN IS AN UNFORGIVEN MAN!

Brethren, let us carefully imitate our Lord and Savior. “Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” If God, in all his holiness, has freely forgiven me all my sin, surely it is reasonable that I, in all my sinfulness, should freely forgive any and all offenses committed against me. “I forgave thee all thy debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?” A wise man will learn the parable (Mt. 18:23-35).

I am preaching today through Wednesday for the First Baptist Church of Kingston, Jamaica. Bro. Aaron Dumas is Pastor. Bro. Lindsay Campbell will preach here in both services today and on Wednesday. Next Sunday Bro. Joe Wilson will preach here. And Bro. Danny Blair will preach on the following Wednesday evening.

Your prayers for me and for these brethren are greatly appreciated. I trust that you will let each of the men who minister to you in my absence know how much you appreciate them and the messages God give them for you.
