“Call his name Jesus

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)

Our Savior’s many names are as ointment poured forth to our needy souls, and none is more delightful and hopeful, more precious and encouraging than this: “JESUS

“The name of Jesus is so sweet, I love it's music to repeat.
It makes my joy full and complete, the precious name of Jesus.

‘Jesus!’ Oh how sweet the name! ‘Jesus!’ Every day the same!

‘Jesus!’ Let all saints proclaim, His worthy praise forever!”

Are you a sinner, corrupt and vile? Are you fearful that you can never come to God and be accepted of him? Behold, God has come in human flesh, specifically to save sinners. His name is called “Jesus,” precisely because he came “to save his people from their sins.”

Do you tremble because God is so great, so infinite, so holy that you cannot approach him? Tremble no more. It is true we could never have come to him; but he has come to us. He is Immanuel, God with us. He is so great as God that he is able to save. Yet, he is so tender and near as man that he is more ready to bestow mercy than you are to ask it.

Do you imagine that you cannot come to God because you have no righteousness? True it is, you have none and can produce none. And it is true that without perfect holiness no man shall see the Lord. It is written, “It shall be perfect to be accepted.” Yet, this “Jesus” is “the Lord our righteousness.” He is that “holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.” And all who come to God by him, by faith in him, are made the very “righteousness of God in him.” He was “made sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him

“Unto you, therefore, which believe he is precious!” Oh, how precious is his very name — “Jesus!” In this one name of our all-glorious, ever-gracious God and Savior, Robert Hawker wrote, “the gospel is folded up. It is the light, the food, the medicine, the very jubilee of the soul.” In him we have all wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, because he is made of God unto us Wisdom, Righteousness, Sanctification, and Redemption. Yes, thou blessed, holy, gracious Lord! Yes, thy name is indeed Jesus, for thou art, thou wilt be Jesus. "And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee, for thou shalt save thy people from their sins."

Blessed Savior, “they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.” You have saved, are saving, and shall forever save your people from their sins! And you alone shall have our praise forever.
