isa 42v04 He Shall Not Fail

"HE SHALL NOT FAIL!"

Isaiah 42:4

The prophet Isaiah says plainly that the Lord Jesus Christ "shall not fail". That simply means that whatever the Son of God undertakes to accomplish, he shall accomplish. If he prays for a man's salvation, that man must be saved. If he dies to put away a man's sin, that man's sin must be put away. If he seeks a sheep, the sheep must be found. If he says to the dead, "Live", the dead must live. If he comes to save a sinner by the power of his grace, that sinner must be saved. "He shall not fail!" But what if the man is a great sinner? "He shall not fail." What if Satan sends out a legion of demons to destroy his soul? "He shall not fail." What if the sinner will not let the Lord save him? "He shall not fail." What if the sinner will not come to Christ, will not trust Christ, will not believe Christ?" "He shall not fail." His people shall be willing in the day of his power. He will not fail to save one of those whom he came to save.

THE CROSS OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST SHALL NEVER BE DISCOVERED A MISCARRIAGE. Every soul for whom he endured the agonizing travail and ignominious death of the cross shall live by the power of his blood and grace. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST EFFECTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED THE REDEMPTION OF GOD'S ELECT WHEN HE DIED ON THE CROSS (John 19:30; Heb. 9:12; Gal. 3:13), and EFFECTUALLY APPLIES HIS REDEMPTIVE WORK TO THE HEARTS OF HIS PEOPLE BY THE GRACE AND POWER OF HIS SPIRIT (John 17:2; Heb. 9:14).

We must not dishonor the Lord Jesus Christ by entertaining the notion that he shed his blood for some and tries to save some, who inspire of all that he has done perish under the wrath of God. And we must not flatter men by promoting, or refusing to denounce, their proud delusion that it is within the power of every man's free-will to determine the course of God's grace and make the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ effectual. NO SINNER WILL EVER BE SAVED SO LONG AS HE THINKS SALVATION IS IN HIS HANDS. EVERY SINNER MUST BE MADE TO KNOW THAT "SALVATION IS OF THE LORD." Only then will a man bow before God's sovereign throne and cry, "God be merciful to me, the sinner."
