01v01 In The Beginning God
"IN THE BEGINNING GOD..."
Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning
God..." Not matter, for matter is not self-existent.
It requires a cause, and that Cause is God. Not law, for law is only a name for
that course which all creation must follow. The course of nature had to be
planned, and the Planner is God. Not mind, for mind is also a created thing,
and must have a Creator. Not man, for man is not
self-causing. He did not just spring into existence. He was created by
God and in the image and likeness of God. "In the beginning God..."
All true doctrine and all true faith must begin here. The eternal Triune God,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is the uncaused Cause of all things. Trace all
things in the universe back to their ultimate, original cause, and you will
find God. "In the beginning God..." And as God is the ultimate Cause
of all things, he is also the ultimate End of all things (Rom.
